Why is my society such a disappointment?
(Complete profile on OKCupid; no cost to contact there.) If you attract someone by not being yourself, you will either have to maintain that falsehood indefinitely or eventually disappoint your partner. I'm not interested in either. That said -- In general, I find people to be lazy, petty, shallow, self-serving, self-righteous, self-destructive, counterproductive, undereducated, irrational, materialistic, and fiscally irresponsible. Also, most women seem to have a proclivity for unpredictability, instability, and artificiality. (Stay strong. Keep reading.) As I can see no way to save Earth short of removing all of the humans from it, I've resigned to saving myself from everyone else by enjoying my all-too-brief, one-and-only life as much as possible before it and my planet are finished. All we have over any other species is music, art, theatre, cinema, literature, photography, hard sciences, and healthy recreation. These define my life. I don't squander my time on the couch, in meaningless chit-chat, watching others engage in competition, on endless material acquisition, or through emotionally bankrupt carnal pursuits. A car is for transportation (when I can't walk/bike), a house is for shelter, clothes are for climate control, a job is for providing necessities, and a computer is a tool. I don't like anything artificial save for medical/dental care and personal hygiene. I don't eat mammals, don't kill bugs (except flying parasites), don't own a TV, and am a year from completing my doctorate. I'm tolerant of anyone else's beliefs, pursuits, and lifestyle, just so long as they respect, and don't negatively influence, mine. That "just so long..." part tends to be a problem since I'm a skeptic, freethinker, critical thinker, nonbeliever, infidel, heretic, atheist, and Western pop culture misanthrope, the majority of other humans aren't, and they're taught to be intolerant of people like me.
